Alloy steel constitutes steel that is alloyed with a range of elements in total amounts varying from 0.1 to 50 percent by weight with the purpose of improving its mechanical properties. It contains small quantities of silicon, phosphorus, sulphur, and oxygen as well.

Metal alloys are materials made up of two or more metals, especially to give increased strength or corrosion resistance.  Alloys are homogeneous mixtures of two or more substances.  For example, bronze is made from copper and tin alloys.
