Astm A335/ ASME SA335 Gr P92 Welding Procedure
A carbon steel is a large category of steel that encompasses a variety of different chemical compositions that make up its composition. There are a number of different types of carbon steel that require different considerations when welding. A good example would be if you were to choose low carbon steel to weld, since this is typically the most readily weldable steel in a room temperature environment.
C1008, C1018, A36, A1011 and A500 are low carbon steels suitable for welding. Preheat and post-heat treatment are typically required for medium carbon steels such as C1045. Weld cracking is worse with high carbon steel than with low carbon steel. It is likely that you will need to conduct very thorough preheating and postheating processes in order to successfully weld high carbon steel. There may also be a need to use special welding filler metals during the welding process.
It is widely used for pipe welding, aerospace, aviation, biomedical implants, fabrication of race cars, choppers, etc., and ASTM A335 P92 pipe welding is used extensively in all of these industries.
